“Nooooo. Don’t do it. Are you mad?”
“Watch. Don’t interrupt, you silly girl.”
“Fine.”
“How is it possible? You are unbelievable!”
“No, dear girl. Merely a magician.”
“How?”
“Do you think I will give all my tricks away? This was merely a demonstration to you that I won’t be hurt by fire when I jump into it during the show.”
Ann paused her narration and sobbed into her hanky. The policeman who had already tired of ever wringing the straight story from her patiently waited.
“And that’s all I know. He rubbed some chemical on his hand before that little demonstration. I had no idea what went wrong during his main act in the show.”
“And the magician died from his foolhardy act.” concluded the policeman.

Foolhardy indeed – should’ve stuck to card tricks! 🙂
